Mode Of Action of Talapothichil
The scalp is formed by five layers that are skin, connective tissue, aponeurosis, loose areolar layer, and pericardium the dense subcutaneous connective tissue has the richest cutaneous blood supply in the body.
The cell membrane which is made up of phospholipids absorbs the lipid-soluble medicinal extracts and enters the blood circulation.
Since there is a procedure of Abhyanga before Thalapothichil where the medicated oil is applied over the scalp and mild massage is done the heat is generated and vasodilatation happens which allows the lipids in medicated oil to absorb the active ingredients of the medicated paste which is covered over the scalp containing various pharmacological action like antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressants, intellectual properties.
These medicinal extracts will cross the cell membrane and enter the circulation. Here the covering of herbal leaf plays a vital role in completing the procedure to maintain adequate temperature throughout the procedure.
