Purva Karma (Pre-procedure)
Selection of the patient:-
The selection of the patient for this procedure depends on the diagnosis which is done with Astha vidha pareeksha (eight-fold examination) and Dashavidha Pareekshas (ten-fold examination) which is done by a qualified physician.
Selection of the medicine:-
A good variety of Jambeera (Lemon) is selected and processed with other medicines which have the pharmacological and therapeutic properties of relieving pain, inflammation, and stiffness and also can rejuvenate and strengthen the joints and soft tissue.
These Jambeera’s are warmed with the help of medicated oils or without the oils depending on the patient’s condition and by the yukti (intelligence) of the qualified doctor, and then they are tied in a cloth in the form of a bolus.
Pradhana Karma(Main Procedure):-
The person is made to lie on the droni, if Abhyanga(massage) is indicated it is performed for a few minutes with medicated oil followed with Jabeera pinda sweda, where the bolus which is prepared with the Jambeera is heated with the help of uruli (pan) and sudation is given to the entire body or locally as per the condition of the patient.
Pashchat Karma (Post-procedure)
After the treatment, the person is advised to take rest for 10- 15 minutes.
Treatment Duration
30 TO 45 MIN
Mode of Action of Jambeera Pinda Sweda
The mode of action depends on the medicines and ingredients which are used for the treatment. Jambeera or Lemon being the main ingredient, the medicinal action reflects based on the pharmacological actions of Jambeera or Lemon and other powdered herbal medicines used for the procedure. As Lemon is rich in Vitamin C (64%), along with minimal percentages of Vitamin B complex, Choline, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, potassium, and Zinc which are having good nutritional values.
While the procedure is being carried out, the heat produced by the medicated bolus and the effect of the medicines makes the temperature increase to more than 2 to 3 c in all areas of the body, and vasodilatation takes place. Due to the increased blood circulation, the transformation of the necessary nutrients and oxygen will happen and waste products are expelled because of increased metabolism as the output of waste products from the cells is increased.
Pranava Kerala Ayurveda Clinic carefully selects the medicines which are organic, authentically sourced, and free of pesticides.
